Why We Like The Pivot Mach 4 SL World Cup XX T-Type Carbon Wheel Mountain Bike

Redesigned for uncompromising, race-winning performance, the Pivot Mach 4 SL is World Cup-ready and more than capable of carrying us through the finish line or ripping our hometown trails alike. Pushing the boundaries to make the Mach 4 SL with more of a World Cup focus but more capable at the same time, Pivot re-imagined what a cross-country race bike could be and slackened the head tube, steepened the seat tube, lengthened the chainstays, reach, and wheelbase, all while shaving weight by nearly a pound from the previous model's frame. A longer reach and wheelbase allow us to be more stable on the descents, and a steeper seat tube angle puts us in a more efficient climbing position to make short work of the technical climbs. The Mach 4 SL also features a new rocker link that incorporates a flip chip for adjustable geometry. The World Cup build of the Mach 4 SL features less travel than other models and is now equipped with 95mm of premium DW-Link suspension over the previous 100mm. The flip chip in the rocker link gives us the option of changing to 103MM, allowing us to easily change our ride to better suit the terrain. With a 68-degree head tube angle when equipped with a 100mm fork, the head tube angle is half of a degree slacker compared to the previous model, allowing us to be more composed and confident when descending. The improved DW-Link suspension and redesigned rocker link bring us a more efficient pedaling bike and improved traction in various scenarios.

The World Cup XX Transmission AXS Carbon Wheel build of the Pivot Mach 4 SL is World Cup-ready and features some of the most impressive components on the market. Pivot's premium carbon frame went through a weight loss program this year, shaving 280 grams over the previous version while maintaining the strength and stiffness needed for aggressive cross-country racing. SRAM's XX SL Transmission AXS drivetrain provides flawless electronic shifting, a super-light carbon crankset, and features an overload clutch that can automatically move out of the way and realign itself in the event of a crash. For some lightening fast race wheels, Pivot slapped on the Reynolds Blacklabel 309/289 XC carbon rims paired with Industry Nine Hydra hubs to give us a lightweight and race-worthy wheelset. The World Cup build is equipped with a Fox Factory DPS rear shock for lightweight performance that excels in small bump sensitivity, and a Fox Factory 32 Step-Cast fork with 100mm of travel that is lightweight and helps to keep us under control. Both the fork and the shock have a lockout via a handlebar-mounted SRAM TwistLoc grip that allows us to easily lock out our fork and rear shock for maximum efficiency when climbing. Fox's Factory Transfer SL dropper post gives us top-tier changes in saddle height at a super light weight, and premium Maxxis Rekon Race tires roll fast and give us the grip we need to compete.

*Due to a high demand in the global supply chain and bike industry since the start of the pandemic, material weight and exact components are subject to change. We are working diligently to keep tech specs updated, and any adjustments will be of equal or better spec level.
