Why We Like The Pivot Mach 4 SL Pro X0 T-Type Mountain Bike
Redesigned for uncompromising performance, the Pivot Mach 4 SL is World Cup-ready and is an absolute ripper. Pushing the boundaries to make the Mach 4 SL with more of a World Cup focus but more capable at the same time, Pivot re-imagined what a cross-country race bike could be and slackened the head tube, steepened the seat tube, lengthened the chainstays, reach, and wheelbase, all while shaving weight by nearly a pound from the previous model's frame. The Mach 4 SL also features a new rocker link that incorporates a flip chip for adjustable geometry. Now equipped with 106mm of premium DW-Link suspension over the previous 100mm, the Mach 4 SL is more capable than ever and also gives us the option of changing to 115MM when we adjust the geometry, allowing us to easily change our ride to better suit the terrain. With a 66.7-degree head tube angle when equipped with a 120mm fork, the head tube angle is much slacker compared to the previous model, allowing us to be more composed and confident when descending.
The Pro X0 Transmission AXS build of the Pivot Mach 4 SL is World Cup-ready and features some of the most impressive components on the market. Pivot's premium carbon frame went through a weight loss program this year, shaving 280 grams over the previous version. SRAM's X0 Transmission AXS drivetrain provides flawless electronic shifting and features an overload clutch that can automatically move out of the way and realign itself in the event of a crash. For some lightening fast race wheels, Pivot slapped on the DT Swiss XR1700 rims paired with their 350 hubs to give us a capable and durable wheelset that won't break the bank. A Fox Factory 34 Step-Cast fork with 120mm of travel is lightweight and helps to keep us under control as we are bombing for the finish line. A Fox Factory Float rear shock is a bigger volume shock over that standard Fox DPS and gives us more small bump sensitivity and a smoother ride. A handlebar-mounted SRAM TwistLoc grip allows us to easily lock out our shock for maximum efficiency, stiffening up our rear shock so we can climb out of the saddle. Rounding this build off, Maxxis Ardent Race tires give us race-worthy speed and minimal rolling resistance while providing us the grip it takes to rail corners at Mach speed.
*Due to a high demand in the global supply chain and bike industry since the start of the pandemic, material weight and exact components are subject to change. We are working diligently to keep tech specs updated, and any adjustments will be of equal or better spec level.
