Why We Like The ON Cloudsurfer Trail Shoe
Finding your flow through miles of winding singletrack can be a lot like surfing, what, with having to keep momentum through slow sections and making the terrain work for you, not against you. Helping us catch the perfect wave, the ON Cloudsurfer Trail Shoe keeps us flying through our trail runs with lightweight comfort, flexibility, and fluid strides. The soft, engineered mesh upper maintains cool breathability while also reducing its eco-impact with recycled materials, while the Missiongrip outsole delivers exceptional traction and durability through the ever-changing, undulating terrain found on the trail.

The cushion and midsole are super comfy, and the rocker likes to keep things moving forward. I would say that the fit is true to size, with plenty of room in the toe box for the toes to spread out a little bit. I tested this shoe out on a pretty muddy and slush covered trail (which seems about the only option currently). The lugs on the shoe aren’t super deep so, I was sliding around a decent amount. The shoe itself seemed to drain water pretty well since I didn’t notice any squishing sounds coming from each step after running through the puddles. Due to the lack of depth in the lugs, I would categorize this as mostly a door to trail shoe or light single track. Another small problem I would point out is the tongue does not come up super high compared to most other trail runners I have. While I usually don’t use the last lace hole for a lace lock system, I could see how using the upper eyelet could cause problems with the shorter tongue. Overall, I really look forward to putting more miles in this cushioned shoe once it dries out more!
