Why We Like The Multi Pitch 30L Backpack

The Multi Pitch 30L Backpack makes it easy to carry everything we need for a day of multi-pitch climbing and sport cragging. We especially appreciate the internal clips for keeping our draws organized while making great use of the back holder for the rope.

Bad, Cheap Redesign

I have owned 2 generations of this pack, and the newest generation is a clear cheapening of the product. The new pack in its current form is not worth buying. The first generation of this pack was incredible. The fabric was durable and the design was thoughtful. It was my go-to pack for working and guiding big climbs in Red Rock to developing climbing routes in southwest China. My first pack went through 3 years of hard use before showing signs of true wear. The recent redesign has ruined the product. My zipper failed on my first trip out! Just climbing with it and grazing rock surfaces put holes in the pack fabric, too. This is, by far, an inferior product to the old version: the redesign has used flimsier fabric and worse materials. If you want a solid multipitch pack, avoid this one until Mountain Hardwear fixes the durability issue! Please fix this pack, MH!

10/10 would whip with this bag

My all time favorite multipitch bag, and I've owned MANY; I'm kind of obsessed. Like it so much I bought a backup. Plus the 20L version and the 25L Scrambler... okay, and the Crag Wagon, which I use+love every weekend for (surprise) cragging. The 30L MP is ideal for longer climbs/when I bring more stuff (or my bulky DSLR camera). Otherwise, the 20L is plenty. Both are incredibly durable and very waterproof. I recommend this bag to literally all my friends and though I never do reviews, it's only fair I give MH some love for this genius bag, which I own 3 of (two in 30L + one in 20L). I own four if you count the one I bought my wife. Buy one, you won't regret it, I promise. LOL this is not a paid ad, believe it or not.

Very Versitile

This pack is durable and can surprisingly fit a lot for 30L. I use it all of the time from multi-pitching to cragging to the days I climb in the gym. I get many compliments on it and I see why. The main compartment is sized to hold a lot and the front pocket allows to me to stash things I need on hand. The front pocket also continues under the top flap which provides even more storage!
