Purchased these for those extra cold ski days. So far I love ‘em. Very warm especially with a chemical warmer inside. Very impressed with the quality— of course, would expect nothing less from Mountain Hardware.

Big ole warm mitts

Super Warm mittens and much lighter than similarly warm mitts I have. Yes they are big but isn't that the point? I have other extreme cold weather mitts that are similar fitting in the same XL size. I usually wear a pair of tighter more dexterous underneath so it works out. Maybe the the folks complaining just have slender childlike hands and don't know it, idk. This pairs well with a big ole parka like the absolute zero, kind of completes the ridiculous oversized (but warm) look and the cuffs fit over a big parka like that. The nylon looks and feels as though if you at it angrily it would tear but I have a ghost whisperer jacket that has similar material and it has been sound so we will see. Overall I wanted a big warm mitts that I could wear over a glove and this is it.

Mighty Mitts

I'm normally a M or a size 8 in gloves. Ordered a S because of the reviews stating these ran on the large size. Smalls were perfect . Just enough room to wear a thin liner glove . First impressions, these are definitely the nicest mittens I've ever tried on . The fleece lining is super soft and plush , Pittards leather palms are top tier. Maybe have a slight concern on the durability of the ripstop 20D portion of the shell , but that's just speculation for now . other than that they seem about perfect . Will report back after I put them through the ringer . If you're looking for a nice set of cold weather mittens I'd put these on the short list

Too big

The mittens were well constructed and seemed very warm, but were much too big so I returned them. Ordered a small (based on the size guide), but they were enormous.

Massive warmth

I wear a 10 in my Hestra GTs. Bought these (size med due to funny review below) hoping for more warmth. They did not disappoint. MASSIVE warmth in 10-25 degree Taos. However, the size issue comes in the width of the mitt. It’s extremely wide, my fingers almost touch the end of the mitt, and yes a bit cumbersome. But this didn’t bother me much once the mitt was through the pole strap. If you can deal with that, it seems to be the only drawback.
