Why We Like The Ibis Ripmo GX Eagle AXS Transmission Mountain Bike
Long days of technical descents and grueling climbs call for a bike that can handle a variety of terrains with ease and efficiency. The Ibis Ripmo fits the bill, and we are always stoked to throw a leg over one for its efficient suspension platform, lightweight frame, and dual 29-inch wheels. Designed for aggressive trail or enduro riding, the Ripmo features 147mm of DW-Link suspension to plow through rough sections and float over rocks and roots. A 64.9-degree head tube angle keeps us stable and under control on steep descents, and a 77-degree seat tube angle positions us upright and over the pedals for an efficient pedaling position. Short 435mm chainstays across all sizes give us a playful and agile bike, while the long reach gives us confidence when plowing down the steepest black diamond trails. The Ripmo features integrated downtube and chainstay protectors to protect our frame from rock strikes and chain slaps, and a water bottle mount inside the front triangle allows us to take along a water bottle so we are always hydrated. The newest version of the Ripmo received a revised swingarm on the rear of the bike, giving us a wider, 55mm chain line for enhanced stiffness and a Universal Derailleur Hanger for an easier and more compatible component specs. Whether we are hitting the jump lines or in for an all-day ride of climbing and descending, the Ripmo is always a solid choice.
The GX Eagle Transmission AXS build of the Ibis Ripmo features an electronic drivetrain, quality components, and a great value. First up, Ibis's carbon frame uses the best carbon fiber available to give us a super lightweight, stiff, and capable frame ready to take on anything we can throw at it. SRAM's GX Eagle Transmission AXS drivetrain gives us a huge 12-speed 10-52t gear range, flawless electronic shifting, and a super durable and replaceable design. Fox Factory suspension takes this build to the next level and supplies us with a Factory 38 fork up front sporting 160mm of travel to keep us upright as we plow through the chunkiest of trails. A Fox Float Factory X2 rear shock keeps us in contact with the ground and gives us tons of adjustments to tune our suspension to our riding style.
*Due to a high demand in the global supply chain and bike industry since the start of the pandemic, material weight and exact components are subject to change. We are working diligently to keep tech specs updated, and any adjustments will be of equal or better spec level. What a combo....
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
- Size Bought:
- Large
i had ridden the Ripmo prior to purchase via a generous friend....but just lucked into the sale price on th AXS drive train. It was higher $$ than I have ever spent on a bike - but I have ZERO buyer's remorse. This thing has been a blast to ride. Taking turns faster on 29" wheels than I was on Santa Cruz mullet for some reason - havent figured out why, but it true.... "no ragerts"....love this bike
