With the Black Diamond Liquid Point Shell Jacket, we don't have to choose between burly waterproof protection and lightweight packability. Made with waterproof, breathable GORE-TEX PacLite, this shell easily stuffs in the bottom of our packs when it's unexpectedly sunny. Weighing 14.5 ounces, it doesn't hold us back during long approaches and multi-day backpacking trips, but that doesn't mean it won't fend off even the most unruly mountain storms. Fully sealed seams, a DWR treatment, and a water-resistant center front zipper prevent water from seeping through, while its helmet-compatible hood, adjustable cuffs, and a cinch hem batten down the hatches when the skies go from grey to black.

The cost inflation on shells is astronomical. You can easily drop $400+ on a shell that might have a 1-2 more features than the Liquid Point Shell Jacket. I agree with comments critiquing the pocket locations. I prefer to have pockets at chest level rather than around the hips. Size wise, I'm a pretty big dude and it fits well over a bulky sweater with some room to spare. The sleeves are also a good length, a typical shortcoming on XL jackets. I can reach and stretch without the wrists riding up. The torso length is also good for the long-torso'd. I can lean over to work the camp stove without showing my lower back tattoo. Also, the water resistant zippers are nice at the price. Could you spend more and get more? Sure. But for the price, I found this to be a great deal for tall guys.

This seems like a good one. Durability has been a problem with other rain shells. No wet weather testing yet, nor will it get any for several months (most likely) but think this will be a good combo of light and durable. I?m 5?11? 175 lbs. perfect fit.
