Why We Built The Backcountry Last Chair 2L Insulated Jacket

We created the freeride-inspired Last Chair 2L Insulated Jacket for days spent ripping steep and deep terrain in cold temps at the resort. Outfitted with a 2-layer waterproof, breathable construction and fully sealed seams, the Last Chair is designed to go the distance in winter's worst weather. An adjustable hood, removable powder skirt, and integrated thumbholes provide us with added defense against the elements, while the zippered underarm vents allow us to release excess heat after a particularly demanding run. We also equipped this classic with low-bulk PrimaLoft Black Eco insulation that not only keeps us warm in cold weather but also lessens our impact on the planet with its fully recycled construction.

Great all purpose ski jacket.

Familiarity:
I've used it several times
Size Bought:
Medium

This jacket is soft and comfortable, waterproof in medium rain and sleet today, has lots of pockets and a hood zipper that comes up past my chin. It kept the rain and wind out and was light and super comfortable. Nice color too. The only problem I had was with the two way zipper. It was sown in a way that stops the two sides of the zipper from lining up at the bottom so it’s difficult to fully unzip. Great practical jacket.

fabric poor quality

I returned the jacket immediately. Fabric is thin and would easily snag. Not the quality I am used to with Backcountry. Definitely would not have been durable enough to get through one winter (especially not for the price).

I love this jacket. It's got pockets in all the right places, my favorite is for the pass in the left wrist. It's so comfortable and fits well. The description talks about how well it does in cold temps, but it also does very well in spring conditions with the underarm vents being KEY! I love the yellow color too, I thought it was very complimentary. My husband has the men's version of this jacket and he loves it too.

Thoughtfully Designed and Warm

For the price point, I was blown away by the thoughtful design features (so many pockets! including one that's perfect for my lift pass). I run cold, so the down fill is what attracted me to this jacket - can confirm that it kept me toasty in 15-25 degree weather without feeling too heavy (with a base layer and fleece). The fit leans towards boxy with just enough waist definition. For my standard size there was plenty of room to layer. Appreciated the length of the jacket and sleeves - at 5'10 they are perfect but may be a little long on someone with a smaller frame. Overall, very impressed with the quality!

I wanted to love this jacket! In fact, I really do love this jacket but ultimately couldn’t get over the color. The lining is silky smooth and I LOVE how this jacket feels on. I didn’t want to take it off. Unfortunately, this shade of yellow just doesn’t work for me. It is a bit more saturated than pictured. I was hoping for a more icey yellow, but it was more primrose yellow. I looked very jaundiced with it on my cool skin tone. The other color option would have been worse truthfully; so I went with a new jacket all together. Which was unfortunate. My only pet peeve was the hood felt a little too oversized and I do recommend sizing down for a less oversized look. Hopefully more colors will come out in the future.

Love the fit and features!

My pet peeve about some of the higher priced brands is that they don't have two way zippers and 2 breast pockets on the outside. This jacket does, and has a little longer fit which is great for storm skiing! The fit is generous but doesn't look bulky.

This jacket is great for the price. It has all of the features you'd want for skiing - great pockets, vents, hood, sleeves, etc. I mostly ski in Minnesota and it can be pretty cold so my only complaint was that it wasn't just a bit warmer. I skied in below zero wind chill and was wearing a light down jacket, thin fleece, and base layer and was a bit cold at times. It sounded well insulated in the description so I was a bit disappointed. I still love it enough that I am keeping it. Just glad there is room for layering. I ordered a small and am 125 lbs.

Fit great, arms are perfect for me at 5'7". Love all the pockets. A little less warm than my other jacket but I sized up for layering. Perfect on it's own above 30 or with a down vest underneath in the teens and 20s.

Sleeves too long

I am 5’1” 130lbs and this coat fit pretty well, except the sleeves are too long and the pockets are a little too low to rest my hands in comfortably. I would have tried an extra small, but it was sold out. I’m pretty sure it would have been too tight though! Other than that, the colors are awesome and it feels like a really nice jacket.
