Why We Like The Outdoor Research Ferrosi Pant
We believe that if you can't wear your current pants up mountain peaks, on long plane rides, and to the brewery after the crag, then it's time to upgrade. And we've found that there are few better options than the Ferrosi Pants from Outdoor Research. Not only does the lightweight nature of these pants make it an easy choice for light-and-fast movement in the mountains, but it also prevents lingering moisture from clinging close to your body for hours on end. Accidentally tip your canoe? No worries, the Ferrosi pants dry up and get the adventure back on track in no time.

Decent lightweight pants but could be better
Got these pants for my summer fieldwork. So far they have been pretty comfy. Very lightweight and surprisingly windproof. The tall length option is really nice (but would be great if it were available in more colors). They did stretch out quite a bit so I now require a belt. The worst part I've noticed is the lack of a gusseted crotch... not super comfortable especially for a pant made for women and for such a high price. Fjallraven pants offer a gusseted crotch and are much more comfortable. I hope future design renditions consider adding a gusseted crotch for us ladies!!!

Lightweight and comfortable
Lightweight, stretchy allowing full-range of motion. So far so good, I'll be interested to see how they hold up over time.

Why did you have to change the cut?
I have a few pairs of these pants that I've bought over the years and have loved them. The newest version, however, is much higher waisted - over 2 inches higher. Why did you have to mess with a good thing?

I was excited to get a lightweight pant for summer but was immediately disappointed. I ordered my normal size to have the waist fit perfectly but they looked like they were painted on. I returned and went up a size to then have the waist too big and they still looked like they were painted on.

Pilled and torn within the first week
After reading some reviews (e.g., "I'm an archeologist and these held up forever out in the field!") I had higher hopes for the Ferrosi pants than they bore out. I purchased them before a multi-day backpacking trip. I like the way they feel, though the material is thin enough that even keeping a hair tie in my pocket resulted in the outline of a circle on my thigh. I was disappointed to find a pull in the fabric on my first day wearing them (during which I rode a train--there was no major activity), but figured it was just bad luck. Then, a few days into the trip I realized that the material was pilling around the waist/fly. My backpack waist straps weren't hitting it, so it wasn't that--I still don't know what did that. And then I took a spill on the trail and tore a hole in the seat of the pants. (Not likely the pants fault, but thicker fabric would've held up better, I suspect.) In general I like these, but not enough to buy another.

Very stretchy, AND they stretch out alot, size down!
Super light weight, however i would size down. They fit perfect when i tried them on, then after about an hour of wear they stretched out almost a full size, making the waist way too big. They also seem to be wearing very quickly. I work outside as a gardener, and after about 10 wears they are starting to pill, the threads have begun to fuzz. If you're occasionally hiking in them as part of your rotation they will probably last longer.I also probably would not rock climb in them as I imagine they would wear out very quickly. They do dry fast, and are very comfy with a belt.

My new favorite hiking pants
I love the fit and feel of these! Maybe my new favorite hiking pants after being loyal to another outdoor brand's hiking pants for over a decade. They're also definitely wearable around town and can be dressed up.

Sweet pants!
I surprised my wife with a pair of these - I have and have had at least 5 pairs and love them. My wife tried them on and was super impressed with how well the fit, and the material seems a lot more durable than older versions. She told me to order them in khaki too...
