The Dometic CFX3 45 Powered Cooler is like having a refrigerator at the campsite. Its compressor keeps food fresh and cold without any ice at all. We can plug it in our car for a deep freeze—without worrying about killing our car battery—and the heavy-duty insulation keeps everything cold while we're hiking away from the car. For a plug-free freeze, we pack along the Dometic 40 Ah Portable Lithium Battery (sold separately). A high-resolution display lets us set the temperature down to -7°F, and using the CFX3 app, we can control the temp from our phone.

The Dometic CFX3 45 makes travel much easier and less messy. You don't have to worry about keeping the cooler full of ice, draining it, wet food, etc, plug it in and forget it, COLD food and beverages

Compressor would not start upon initial start up
The day the cooler was delivered from Dometic, I plugged it into two different 110 outlets and a 12v outlet and cooler’s compressor would not start and I would receive an error 33 on the display. I’m waiting to hear back from Customer Service. I had high hopes for this product and hopefully the issue will be resolved quickly.

Such a game changer
The quality of this fridge is well worth the price! It keeps my goods at the desired temperature without any issue. The space is perfect and I love the sizing.

Works, but...
This thing works well, but the compressor began to rattle. Because I couldn't provide a receipt Dometic denied to help. Someone wrote a review of his 55 that rattled as well. That is unacceptable when you want to take it off road, but I had only used on road. Time for another brand.

Game Changer!! (DC cord issue resolution)
Absolutely love this thing. It's efficient and quiet, and not having to deal with ice is SO nice! We bouth this unit and protective cover, along with the PLB40, Faucet & Jug, and Hard Cases, and they are all great. We did have some trouble with our DC cord, and CS sent a replacement after we read a few reports of people having an issue with theirs. We ended up replacing just the tip of the cord (unscrewing the tip like you do to access the 2-pin DC), and that fixed it, so clearly that was the problem.

This fridge fits the bill
We picked up the CFX345 to use as a secondary fridge to supplement the built in fridge in our van. The primary fridge is great for weekend-4/5 day long trips, but for longer stints it just was not large enough. Now, we can comfortable set out for week+ trips visiting the store once in a while. This will also allow us to save by shopping once at a less expensive store vs many trips to a boutique market. Better for the environment too. Less plastic from the bags of ice that goes into the cooler while be completely powered off a solar system with battery storage. I am pleased with how quiet it is, how quick and got to 39 degrees from 71 (in a matter of about 16 minutes). Light yet rugged enough. This fridge checks many boxes and fits the bill perfectly.

GAME CHANGER!
I previously went with ice chests/coolers for years and having to constantly worry about ice was always a stressor to our trips. Making the switch to the Dometic fridge was a GAME CHANGER. We thought the 45 was going to be too small, but since we don’t need ice, we can actually pack a little bit more than we would with traditional coolers

Amazing Technology
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I have had a number of ice coolers over the years. The CFX3 45L has an amazing amount of room considering no space has to be given up for ice. The cooler does a great job of keeping everything cool. I have paired it with a PLB40 battery and it keeps the fridge running for just short of two days (I have been averaging about 2-3% of battery capacity/hr when not in direct sunlight). Unlike ice coolers, nothing gets soggy and no water to drain or ice to buy. I was so impressed with the performance of the CFX3 45L, I added the CFX3 25L for those shorter day trips. Highly recommend if you want to get away from the traditional ice cooler.

PERFECT for my Nissan NV camper van conversion!
Dometic is the go-to brand for everything camper van related for good reason! I love my Dometic cooler and AC unit in my Nissan NV camper van conversion, which I've lived in for 2 years. My original Dometic cooler was a really old unit purchased years ago and when it was time to upgrade, I was really worried that this new cooler might not fit between the front two seats of my Nissan (the location of my first Dometic). I was THRILLED to share that even though the dimensions are different, the CFX3-45 is a perfect fit between my two front seats! In my opinion, this is the ideal location for a cooler in a camper van build because it allows for the rest of the van to be used for storage, toilet, trash containers, and everything else you need in a tiny home on wheels. My 240 watts solar runs this cooler like a breeze and I can stay off-grid indefinitely (until I have to get more food & water, that is). Highly recommend and love this cooler!
