First of all, the stem seems fine in construction. The problem is that it requires a specific version of Future Shock, and if you don't have that version, you have to get a shim to get this stem to match other Future Shock versions. The specific problem is that there is nothing in this page that tells you or shows you that you need a specific version of Future Shock or a specific sized and shaped shim. There are no pictures showing the shape of the stem where it attaches to the Future Shock, and there's nothing in the item description that describes the versions that this is compatible with, only that it is "Designed only for the Future Shocks". Also, Backcountry doesn't sell that shim either, you have to find it from another retailer. From what I can tell, this stem is compatible with Future Shock 2.0, but not the other versions. Specialized's own website and manuals are extremely vague on this point and I haven't found information that says that certain Future Shock versions match certain stems. So, I'm giving this 1 star for the extremely lousy information provided here and throughout Specialized's own website and manuals. If you do decide to buy this, look for the SPECIALIZED FUTURE SHOCK 1.5 & 2.0 STEM SHIM (FLANGED VERSION). That will give you an idea of the shape of this stem and it'll cost you an additional $10 if you have a Future Shock that's round like mine. I've attached the photo that they should've included in the original product description.
