Why We Like The Neutrino 200 Sleeping Bag

When your home consists of two aluminum poles holding up a couple pieces water-repellent ripstop material and can be easily packed into a stuff sack the size of a huge Italian sub, there's something truly homey about slipping into the Rab Neutrino 200 Sleeping Bag after a long night on the trail. Constructed with a durable Quantum Pertex ripstop material, this sleeping bag is equipped with a tapered mummy construction, trapezoidal baffle design, angled footbox, and internal draft collar (complete with drawcord), while the 800-fill down insulation is finished with a Nikwax water-resistant treatment that makes the down hydrophobic and also is fluorocarbon-free. Not to mention, the Neutrino 200 weighs in at just over one pound, making this sleeping bag ideal for backpacking, bikepacking, or minimalist hiking.

Great lightweight summer bag

I have used this sleeping bag during the summer. As with all Rab products, it is beautifully made and the Pertex is a great lightweight fabric. Many have said that they felt cold in this bag but I found if I cacooned myself inside the bag with the hood up, I was toasty, but equally on a particularly warm night, I could unzip and throw a bit of leg out to cool down. The bag packs down to a small size and was easy to pack away in my backpack. I would be cautious about using this bag in early spring or late autumn - and definitely nowhere near colder weather. However, I guess if you use it with a thermal liner, that would extend its range, but I haven't tried that yet. Buy this if you are camping in the summer and want a beautiful and super comfortable lightweight bag. I used this bag with a Sea to Summit Ultralight insulated sleeping mat. Look after this bag and it will most likely last you a lifetime - I still have a 1000g winter Rab down bag which is more than 20 years old and still in great condition. If it's down you want, then it has to be Rab ! PS. I am a fairly slim 165 cm female and my Neutrino 200 is the regular men's bag.

It’s mainly being used for

It’s mainly being used for bike packing and as it packs down small and is light it’s fantastic. It’s also warm enough for late spring early autumn and because it has a long zip it’s good for summer.

Fantastic lightweight sleeping bag

I already have a Neutrino 400, and wanted a lighter weight bag for summer trips and bike packing. This item that purpose perfectly. It's super light, compresses really small, and is perfect warmth for a summer trip. I've used it for a couple of weekends already and has been comfortable and warm enough for mild spring nights. I'd love a ladies version (i.e. slightly shorter) but this longer length isn't a problem for me. I love the new storage sacks too.

For warm summer only

The sleeping bag looks and feels lovely, and excellent quality, but unfortunately it did not keep me warm despite using a good quality sleeping mat, wearing merino base layers, wooly socks, a down jacket and hat for bed. I was still cold when it was 7 degrees at night when camping in Exmoor and reluctant to use it again unless it’s a warm summer night. Next time I would go for a 300, not this 200.

Lightweight sleeping bag, but only for summer

Very excited by this well-made bag. Exercise caution at the claims made by manufacturer. Not safe for freezing temperatures. I'm just back from camping in Black Mountains in Wales where it reached a modest 7 degrees at night. I was very cold in this bag and had to wear long johns, socks, multiple woollen layers and a down jacket to stop from shivering. Disappointed by its performance although it is still good quality construction and I will use it for warmer camping in the summer. I have a heavier Rab bag that has never let me done, but it weighs 1.6kg.
