Amazing beacon
This beacon is extremely easy to use. It's range is out of this world, and for Search and Rescue practice is absolutely perfect. My only complaint was, that the owners manual did not come with the product. I had to search it on line and it was not easy to find the correct manual that gave the advanced features.

Substantially increased pickup range vs competitors
I switched to the Barryvox S from a Tracker 3 and have noted that it routinely picks up an initial signal significantly further than other options, often 60m+, which gets you into course search mode much faster. One thing I have noticed with the Barrvox is that the refresh rate seems to be much slower than some other beacon options. This forces you to slow down during fine search and really be patient with your readings, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but is something to be aware of. The Pro mode has a lot of features that are really confusing if you don't practice with them. However, I really love the analog mode, even for recreational purposes because it allows you do easily demonstrate electronic interference to companions or guests. I don't think that warrants everyone getting the S version, but this feature is helpful even for advance recreationalists who may be mentoring newer folks.

Solid & dependable beacon.
Pros: I love the added guide features. The signal tracking is rock solid, especially with multiple burials. Battery life is excellent. Cautions: The Mammut BS is perhaps the slowest beacon model out there, when it comes to the initial search. You will need to pause for two breaths and let the beacon lock on to the signal. In our test drills, Mammut users are often just as fast when they understand how their device searches and finds a signal. However, new users will often become confused if they rush their beacon. PRACTICE and get to know the behavior of your beacon. Also, the burial marking feature seems to only work in close range to the subject, i.e. it won't let you flag and mark at 4 m out, you'll need to get in closer to flag and move on. This can be awkward and inefficient in larger scenarios, with multiple searchers. I have several of these beacons and love them! However, this beacon may not be a great choice for the casual user. Unless you are willing to practice and get to know the nuance of how it behaves, it may seem confusing in a real life scenario.

Cheap fun and easy
the fastest processor and longest range I've seen. I use it daily for mechanized guiding. Battery life is very long as well, 15 11hr days before I had to change batteries. tons of functions for techie skiers as well.
