Great travel jacket for travel summer!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this jacket for my mom who is traveling to Spain in the summer. She wanted light coverage that she could wear in warm weather, that would protect her from possible rain, while having secure pockets for important items she can keep close to her since Barcelona is a known pickpocket area. Initially, I found the price of this jacket to be significantly higher compared to other lightweight Columbia jackets, but it was upon close inspection that I realized why it was priced more. Firstly, this jacket is fully lined with a netted material that looks well-constructed--something I noticed lesser priced jackets lacked. There's also velcro straps at the ends of the sleeves that not only helps with keeping moisture out, but I think for shorter people, helps to make the otherwise longer sleeves fitting. The hood is fairly roomy and adjustable, and on its largest setting can fit over a bun/hairclip without sacrificing face coverage, or looking awkward. Additionally, there is also the option of using a zipper or buttons (or both) to secure the jacket. But the best thing about this jacket by far are the pockets; they are secure! Not only do the 2 outer pockets have zippers, but the VERY BEST pocket is the chest pocket which is also zippered. This pocket was the deciding factor for me because that's the pocket you can place your wallet and/or your passport (it's big enough) since it's the safest part of the jacket (and safer than a bag in my opinion). If this jacket only had 2 inner dump pockets (and it can), it would be perfect and I would be willing to pay more for a jacket like that. I was concerned with the fit of the jacket since it's more straight and not a fitted, drawstring waist, but I was pleasantly surprised with how flattering the XS size fit my mother's frame (thin, 5'1)--and it didn't look bad when I tried it on either (medium, 4'11). I was a little bummed that the color was what made the jacket more expensive vs. other colors, but my mother really liked how different the design is, while having a purple/blue color profile that works well with more basic color profiles like gray, black, and navy blue. But to be honest it's really cute! It's almost like a feminine version of cammo, lol. The material seems really light though and makes me question how "waterproof" it really is, but it looks like it will protect enough from at least a light rain, which is what you can expect from summer weather. Overall, it looks like a great jacket for summer travel--my mom is really happy with both the form and function and I feel it will work well for that purpose, and beyond.

Hood design change was a bad choice

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have the previous version of this jacket and I loved it. It’s about five years old and starting to leak, so I ordered this as a replacement. Columbia changed the hood, so now the whole thing crinkles up when you tighten it, rather than staying flat on the brim. It was a really disappointing design change. I wear this jacket as a windbreaker, too, and it’s super cute. But with the hood change, I returned it and bought a different jacket that is more functional.

Great fit all around!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As someone with long arms I was worried about this not being long enough in the sleeves. This jacket has long enough sleeves! I couldn't be happier with the fit. I look forward to many rainy days to get some use out of it!

I love the fit!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I haven't tested it in the rain yet, but the fit is perfect. I am 5' 7" and about 118 lbs. I usually buy a size small in Columbia jackets, and was concerned after reading other reviews that this one might run too small. I'm glad I didn't size up. The sleeves are nice and long and the overall length of the jacket is great. I have plenty of room to wear a sweater underneath if needed.

Wind and waterproof

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this jacket for a trip to Australia and New Zealand and it was perfect. New Zealand was cold and it rained several times and this jacket kept me warm and dry. I layered with warm clothes underneath and there was plenty of room and very comfortable. The hood closes up pretty well but it would be nice to have a bit wider of a brim to keep the rain off my face a little more. It’s lightweight which makes it great for traveling. I wore it as a wind breaker a couple of times and it worked great. I bought the blue pattern which isn’t the best look but it was on sale. I would have preferred a solid color but the only option was black and that was a definite no. A pretty solid blue would be a nice option.

Wonderful if you’re tall and slim with long arms!

I absolutely love this jacket. It’s true that it runs small. I usually buy Columbia medium tops, and the arms are too short. In this jacket I got a large, the cut is very flattering, still allows room for a sweater underneath, and the arms are long. If you are tall with long arms, this is an incredibly flattering jacket!

Just what I needed

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought it because I am a Seattle-ite and it rains here freaking every day. But this jacket has made my life easier in ways I cannot explain. I don't even have to layer with it except in winters. It is warm, cozy, snug, and ofcourse rainproof.

Great Light Weight Jacket

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great light weight jacket. Love the long coat. I usually wear a 14 so thought the XL would be fine. A bit snug so returned and got the next size up.
