Why We Like The Salomon Techamphibian 5 Water Shoe
Some of us are like frogs, jumping in and out of the water to pursue our outdoor passions. Salomon built the Techamphibian 5 Water Shoe for our amphibious lifestyle. The closed-toe design and substantial outsoles protect our feet on the trail and river bottom while the synthetic mesh keeps out debris and drains and dries quickly to keep us comfortable in and out of the water. We also like the Quicklace system, which makes it easy to slip in and out of our shoes while cinching up tight for a secure fit as we're hiking waterfalls, wading rivers with our fishing rod, and paddling our SUP or kayak.

Perfect Blend of Comfort and Functionali
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
- Size Bought:
- 10.5
I recently purchased the Techamphibian 5 Water Shoe - Men's from Backcountry, and I couldn't be happier with my decision! These shoes are the perfect blend of comfort, functionality, and style. Comfort: The fit is spot-on, and the cushioning provides excellent support for both my daily walks and more intense hikes. The breathable mesh upper ensures my feet stay cool and dry, even during the hottest days. Functionality: These shoes truly excel in wet conditions. I've worn them for kayaking, fishing, and even some light river trekking, and they performed flawlessly. The quick-drying material and excellent drainage system mean no more soggy feet, and the slip-resistant sole gives me confidence on slippery rocks and wet surfaces. Versatility: I love that I can transition seamlessly from water activities to land hikes without having to change shoes. They look great with both casual and outdoor gear, making them a versatile addition to my wardrobe. Durability: After several weeks of heavy use, these shoes still look and feel like new. The quality construction is evident, and I can tell they're built to last. Overall, the Techamphibian 5 Water Shoe has exceeded my expectations in every way. Whether you're an avid outdoorsman or just need a reliable pair of shoes for water-related activities, I highly recommend these. Backcountry's service was top-notch as always, with fast shipping and great customer support. Don't hesitate to grab a pair – you won't regret it!

A big step down from the Techamphibian 3
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
- Size Bought:
- US 11
- Height:
- 5' 11"
- Weight:
- 170
I was encouraged to find the Techamphibian 3's replacement finally available in my size. The Techamphibian 5 is a step down from the 3 in at least three respects: 1) The Techamphibian 3 has a wide, comfortable toe box while the 5's is narrow. 2) The Techamphibian 3's lacing system at the top lace is anchored by soft webbing outside the shoe, while the Techamphibian 5, nearest the ankle, has a bulging metal rivet to pass the thin hard lace inside the shoe, aligned with a prominent seam in the tongue. All three, alone and in combination, press on sensitive parts on top of the foot, causing discomfort. 3) The Techamphibian 3 was a beautiful shoe I could wear anywhere from the Grand Canyon to the office. Bring back the Techamphibian 3.

I persally liked the old style but the new version looks nice as well, I have several shoes so I never use one pair too much ..as people say , the material has to rest too….

Poor Material Choice
Like most everything about the Techamphibian 5 except the sole material. It is a hard(er) black rubber that is very slick on smooth surfaces. Super important to me as I use them mostly for scrambling on the beach. My Chacos, and the Tevas before them, are both better. Running shoes are better. Not asking for climbing rubber, but there are better choices. Will probably have to ditch these before I crack my head on a wet rock.

love them for how you can take them into the water and when you get out they flush out very nice. very sporty look, good for all outdoor activities. had a another pair few years back and I lost them on one of my trips. finally ordered another pair had to wait awhile for them to be back in stock. there was another style also that looked good but don't see them anymore either maybe they will bring them back too looked nice also

So far, so good!
I just bought the TECHAMPHIBIAN 5 and only have been able to take them on a couple of light hikes while on our Hawaiian Vacation and so far, they are preforming as advertised. They are comfortable and the back heel does not rub and blister like so many of the other shoes I have purchased before. We are in Mexico this week and should really be able to put these shoes to the text.

This is an Observation
Given the technology improvements why is it not possible to get the correct sizing choice right first time. Do we not have the tech to photograph a foot alongside two know sized object and obtain a near perfect sizing match. I'm fed up of ordering oroducts that arnt size suitable.

Great Shoes!
I’ve been looking for a long time for shoes like this that I’d be able to wear on a hike with a cave system where I have to walk in water. Incredible shoe and very happy with my purchase!
