Why We Like The Index S2 Smart Scale

Whether you're training for a tri, making a commitment to getting healthy, or just working on getting ready for summer, Garmin's Index Smart Scale makes sticking to your plan a whole lot easier. It does all the classic scale things: weighing in pounds, kilograms, and even stone. It also tracks body mass index, body fat percentage, bone mass, and skeletal muscle mass, all of which are important data points for high-level athletes. The Index can recognize and remember up to 16 different users, and of course it can sync to Garmin Connect, the online platform that lets you track and analyze all your workout data, so you can see exactly how your workouts correspond to your goals.

Worked great for a few weeks before issues started

The scale worked great for a few weeks, then it started not synching to my Garmin app. Restared it several times and each time it wouldn't recognize me as a user. Read up on how to fix the issue, but it sounded like a hassle to complete, requiring you have a second separate wifi connection (which I don't have) Scale still works, it's just not smart anymore.

Great!....Mostly

I pretty much love everything except the body fat calculation. It was WAY off to begin with. Once I went into the settings and set my body fat to what it should be it has been pretty steady since. If this is calculating through your body as it says it does, then you shouldn't have to manually enter data like that in order for it to read more accurately. I do love how it auto uploads all data to my Garmin Connect app. Overall though, I'm happy with purchasing this scale.

Love it! Simple and EASY

It does the job. I know it’s a bit more expensive - but I love how the data tracks inside Garmin Connect!

I love the scale but……

It’s nice to be able to have separate profiles for my wife and myself but we weigh close to the same and when I weigh myself it will sometimes think it’s my wife and trying to get it to change to my profile is glitchy sometimes it will easily go to my profile when I tap it but sometimes it won’t do anything and end up put my weight on my wife’s profile and vice versa and we have to delete a lot of weights off our profiles

Good scale, poor at the other metrics

I've had my S2 for a few years now. For weight alone, it seems pretty accurate. For the other metrics, it is WAY off. This is a known issue. Percent body fat is incredibly inaccurate, and bone mass and skeletal muscle mass are not actually measured but imputed through an algorithm that makes a lot of assumptions based on your age. If you change your age in your Garmin Connect settings it will give you wildly different readings. So clearly it isn't actually measuring anything. I had high hopes for this device. But honestly, save your money and buy an old fashioned scale. This thing is garbage.

My wife and i really love this Scale

This sacle has many features included things like BMI readings, Percentage of fat, bone mass and a few others. But my wife and I were wondering how some of the data readings are calculted and how accurate they are.

Works great

I finally upgraded to the world of smart scales and after a lot of research, this was my end result. I am happy with my choice and the product. I feel it's accurate and the convenience of uploading my information is perfect. Sometime I just don't have the time to manually enter all the details myself and it's a rush to just try and get a daily weigh in when you have a toddler. So far so good!

Garmin Index Smart Scale

My only concern is when I lose weight (1-2 lbs) that my body fat goes up but my muscle mass goes down. Doesn't make sense to me if I'm continuing to vigorously exercise daily....

Consistent Weight Readings

Compared to other scales, the Index 2 provides consistent data and tracks many other metrics besides weight. Battery life has been good, however it is a bit of a pain connecting the scale to WiFi. Once connected it updates to the Garmin app rather well.
